Bergen BRT: Travel Needs

Bergen County is conducting a feasibility study to evaluate the potential of implementing Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) to improve bus service in the county. BRT is a flexible, efficient, and innovative public transportation tool that improves urban mobility with additional services and priority treatments making travel faster, more reliable, and more comfortable.

Today, more than 60% of Bergen County residents work in the County compared to only about 18% of people who work in New York City. Bergen County residents, employees, and visitors are largely dependent on car travel. Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) is a customer friendly and effective method of creating new mobility options. The Bergen County BRT Study will define the vision for tomorrow’s advanced bus service for Bergen County.
